The new UHD Ssence 600 3D aligner from Hofmann Megaplan has arrived and it is another ‘game changing’ leap forward to our wheel alignment program. This flagship model is based on the Ssence 600, with the significant advantage of new UltraHD cameras, smaller, lightweight targets, and an updated interface. This combination delivers fast, precise results and is dramatically less susceptible to light pollution.
UHD – a few more pixels, so what?
The sensitivity of the Ultra HD cameras means they can pick up the minutest detail and accurately locate the much smaller reflective dots on the new targets, allowing them to be significantly reduced in size and weight. It also means the readings are less affected by light pollution. The new targets are less than a 1/3 of the size of it’s predecessors and weigh around 70% less, making them easy to handle and position, speeding up the alignment process.
Ssence – Updated Software
Finding a specific vehicle’s alignment settings is now much simpler and much more intuitive. Unlike some other systems there is no searching for several minutes to find the right vehicle. The system narrows the search as you type, saving crucial time in a busy workshop. There is also the option of adding the Hofmann Megatab allowing a clearer picture of any issues and allowing the technician the freedom to walk around the vehicle to carry out the work. The Megatab is a bespoke extension of the machine and not just a remote control application.
Stay on track – LiftTracker technology
You put the vehicle up on the lift, line up the cameras with the targets and then realise you need to get back into the vehicle. Time to start again, or is it? Once the Ssence has locked on to the targets, LiftTracker technology moves the beam in sync with the lift. This allows the lift to be raised and lowered without it affecting the alignment readings and saving time in the testing process. This is also particularly good when a problem is discovered and adjustments need to be made whilst the car is on the lift.
Less affected by light
One of the biggest complaints when carrying out vehicle wheel alignment is interference from light pollution. The workshop lights, and/or glare from sunlight, either through windows or through the workshop door can cause a discrepancy in the results, as the camera constantly searches for the right area to lock onto. The new HD camera system can collect a lot more data and is better equipped to distinguish between a greater number of light variants
Alignment to a paying customer can seem like a bit of a mystery but the UHD Ssence 600 puts the customer in the picture while the work is being carried out. This can be done on either a large 32″ screen attached to the machine or on the optional Megatab – giving complete piece of mind. If any adjustments are made, you can print out a before-and-after report for the customer.
“This is great step forward for our alignment range. We have listened to our customers‘ needs and come back with a feature-packed system for the busy workshop. Ever since we saw the first demonstration unit arrive from Austria for Automechanika, we’ve been struck by just how compact and accurate this unit is. As more customers see the value of a good alignment offering, it will become .” commented Mark Berrymann, Managing Director of Hofmann Megaplan.

Wheel alignment is not overly complicated. In most instances modern alignment equipment can ‘prompt’ a technician through the process, to achieve swift and precise readings. But how do you make it work and develop into a consistent revenue stream for your workshop? Well, it could be down to how you communicate and market it to your customers.
A excellent example of this is FIVESTAR AUTOCENTER – Huddersfield. They realised very early on that they needed to take the mystery out of alignment and start a conversation with their customers about the benefits to a perfectly aligned vehicle, that ultimately could save them hundreds of pounds in the long term.
To do this they offered a FREE complimentary alignment for a promotional period, on each vehicle that came through their doors. This enabled FIVESTAR to assess and diagnose any severe cases of misalignment and discuss the options available to the owner.
FIVESTAR decided they wanted to at the forefront of alignment technology by purchasing a Hofmann Megaplan Ssence 600 3D aligner. The Ssence 600 system represents the very latest 3D wheel alignment technology. Utilising the ‘reflective target’ type measuring head and camera system, the Ssence is fast, simple, and ideal for those customers looking to get swift and accurate results. The software has been designed to make life as easy for the operator as possible, minimising unnecessary procedures commonly found on other, similar systems.
Every customer was handed a print out of their vehicle’s current alignment values and talked through the options available, making sure they had all the information on their vehicle to make an informed decision. If they decided work was necessary, FIVESTAR happily carried out the work and provided proof of the work carried out.
… needless to say this was successful. With their equipment paid off in less than 12 months and influx of new and existing alignment customers.
Great service FIVESTAR!
Check them out for yourself …
With the Royal Mail having thousands of vehicles out on the road, delivering mail to millions of homes, it is unsurprising that their vehicles clock up considerable mileage. As running costs make up a significant percentage of overheads and having badly aligned vehicles can only escalate this issue further.
With this in mind Royal Mail fleet Aberdeen have taken delivery of their Hofmann Megaplan megaline System 4 laser alignment system. It comes in two options, either wall mounted or on a trolley. At Hofmann Megaplan have many alignment options available, from the very feature driven 3D aligners to this, the most basic laser alignment system. Whilst the system lacks the computerised assistance found on more modern CCD and 3D aligners having a high quality machine and some – but not quality.
Laser alignment was first commercialised in the 1990s, laser wheel alignment is you basic form of alignment. Systems consist of a pair of targets or ‘flags’ mounted to one axle and a pair of laser heads mounted to the other wheels.
